Poudre School District is proud to represent the region as leader in school nutrition and has been selected by the Colorado Department of Education as a member of the Colorado Department of Education’s SNAC (School Nutrition Advisory Council). The purpose of this council is to inform and advise the CDE OSN (Office of School Nutrition) on program development and implementation of Child Nutrition Programs and to serve as a resource and representative for School Food Authorities (SFAs). The SNAC promotes the sharing of ideas and will provide a unified voice for all SFAs—large, medium, and small—within a strong web of communication best on best practices. It will help the CDE OSN to make more informed decisions based on the diverse needs across the state. Some examples of recommendations the SNAC might make are in the areas of more effective training, improved communication, collecting information and feedback, publicizing best practices, and supporting SFAs during the review process. Poudre School District very excited to announce that the SNAC has been formed and for PSD’s Child Nutrition Department to be involved in this high level processes.
